BLUEBERRY PICKING. 06-09-2007

Today we took a ride to the Santa Barbara Blueberry Farm at Restoration Ranch. It is on Hwy 101 right between the Gaviota tunnel and the town of Buellton. We had a great time picking berries, noshing a LOT, and enjoying the differences between the 13 subvarieties of the "Southern Highbrush Blueberries" they grow. We got there and the weather was just perfect, mid-70's with a nice breeze. Got our little pails and went out to the fields. We didn't eat as many as we picked, but we ate a lot, they are really great...some of them are as big as grapes, ripe, sweet and intense. We took home two pails worth and have been eating them by the handful....well....it is healthfood after all. They have more antioxidants than almost anything else you can eat. Anyway we will be going back very soon. They have picking from mid-May to mid-September.
